Lasso 8 Server with Filemaker Server 7 Advanced

Featured Replies

I've got a huge problem. I have FM Adv Server 7. As you may know, it comes in 2 CD's (one is for serv7 and one is for the advanced features). Well, I installed Server 7 on my Windows fileserver, but never got around to adding the Adv server features - since I planned to use them when I was ready to integrate my FM DB with my web site.

I finally got around to planning the connection of my web site to my FM DB. After much posting on this forum, many people suggested going with Lasso.

I bought and installed Lasso v.8 on my Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 web server, and was about to install the adv 7 package - but found out there is absolutely no way to install FM v.7 on Linux.

I have no problem with keeping my FM stuff on a windows machine, but definately want to keep my web server on a Linux box. It seems that I would need to install the Web Server Module and Administration Console on the Linux box in order to connect to Lasso.

IS THERE ANY WAY ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH TO DO THIS - or even to work around this? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

Thank you! confused.gif

You don't need to have Lasso installed on the same CPU as the FM Server is, in fact, I would advise against it.

I have my Intranet CPU with lasso running on it, connecting to a different CPU that has the FM Server on it.

Soooo, install your advanced FM cd onto the Windows fileserver, go into your lasso admin console, and connect to it by ip.
