maulanday Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 One of my users cannot modify, add, or delete records. They have full access as their privilege set. I saved a copy of it on our server. I am able to modify, add or delete records with her user name and password. She does have FileMaker 8 Advanced like I do, but she is using a Mac and I'm using a PC. Does anyone know what the problem maybe?
Ender Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Check the OS level permissions for the file (Select the file, then select File->Get Info.) Her OS X account should have Read & Write permissions, either as the Owner, Group, or Others.
Lee Smith Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 (edited) This happens when you transfer files via a disk. Tell them to highlight the Icon of the file at the Finder level and "Get Info". Go to the bottom of the Info Box and there is a pop up that they need to set to Read and Write. It is on Wirte Read only now. HTH Lee Edited December 5, 2005 by Guest [strike]Wirte[/strike]
maulanday Posted December 5, 2005 Author Posted December 5, 2005 Just quick question. Does she have to have FileMaker Server on her computer?
maulanday Posted December 5, 2005 Author Posted December 5, 2005 This is my first database ever using FileMaker. So what is OS level performance?
Ender Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 FM Server would be necessary if hosting to more than 5 clients. In that case, the Server machine should be dedicated for that purpose, and not be used as a workstation. (Also, in this case, the OS X permissions would need to have the group "fmsadmin" selected, with Read & Write permission.) If you only have one user (not networked,) then FM Server is not necessary.
Ender Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 So what is OS level performance? I think you've missread something.
