Genx
Could someone briefly outline the limitations of an FM 8 runtime (besides lack of comm with server) please? I've had a look all over the place but google has failed me.. Cheers guys.
CoZiMan
1. No web publishing. 2. No file sharing (no peer to peer) 3. Limited editing (don't remember exact items) in the runtime IF you don't have a full version of FMP to launch into locally. (think updating or changes to structure) Essentially it's FMP standalone. HTH.

Genx
ah well, wat u gonna do, general export is still supported though right?
JerrySalem
A run time file can export to excel (and the 'send to...' menu item is also still active, but only send to excel) It must be a licensing issue with adobe, or FMP just wants you to sell FMP not just run times! :
Genx
nah, they're just cheap, they didnt want to fork out an extra bit of cash :
SteveB
It's actually quite outrageous. The only way to re-enable creating PDFs with with an expensive ($500) plugin on Windows. Steve

Himitsu
I am also looking at creating stand alone apps... what is your idea of this? is says it can't work on networks. So it only runs itself? no connection to a local network PC? But if you creat a stand alone, can it use the network if the customer buys FMP? mr_vodka
The runtime is just that. Its a stand alone solutions. The runtime solution does not require FMP. If the end user has a copy of FMP, then they can use the original solution prior to converting to a runtime. The runtime solution can not communicate with the FMP solution. Again it is stand alone. Genx
The best alternative I've found for PDF generation is CutePDF and ghostscript -- google it.
