Just noticed that a double pipe || in a text box field display, i.e.:

<<||>>

yields the current user name.

Not sure I follow. If you select Insert from menu, you have many options. One is double-pipe for User Name Symbol. Same with // for date, @@ for record number, etc.

I think that behavior is the same as in prior versions. And you don't need to wrap it with merge code either; just type it directly and it will produce the correct results. Did you have a question about it?

Do you know where these are documented?

This is the first time I've run into this and the double pipe doesn't show in my mac menu.

I have used command hyphen to insert the date.

A variable user name. This name changes to show the User Name specified in Preferences.
