CoZiMan Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Sorry if this is already out there: Just noticed that a double pipe || in a text box field display, i.e.: <<||>> yields the current user name. Comments?
LaRetta Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Not sure I follow. If you select Insert from menu, you have many options. One is double-pipe for User Name Symbol. Same with // for date, @@ for record number, etc. I think that behavior is the same as in prior versions. And you don't need to wrap it with merge code either; just type it directly and it will produce the correct results. Did you have a question about it? LaRetta :wink2:
CoZiMan Posted December 24, 2005 Author Posted December 24, 2005 Do you know where these are documented? This is the first time I've run into this and the double pipe doesn't show in my mac menu. I have used command hyphen to insert the date. :
Lee Smith Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Look up "Insert" in your Online Help. [color:blue]Insert >> [color:blue] Inserting the date, page number, or other variable onto a layout. >> [color:red] **[color:Blue] User Name Symbol A variable user name. This name changes to show the User Name specified in Preferences. Two vertical lines (||) [color:red] ** The are all listed here, this is the one for || Lee
