February 23, 200619 yr I'm getting an error trying to zoom in on your attachments. So I can't see the field names, and relationships. Why not post a copy of your file so we can see it? Lee
February 23, 200619 yr Author Hi Lee I have upload another couple screen dump of the relationships see what you think???, (not to keen to up load the FM file as it has client info on it but... may be I can get around it by creating an new data base and striping out some of the data... i will do this if we need to.....) thanks for time Cheers Hacky ;) Edited February 23, 200619 yr by Guest
February 23, 200619 yr Hacky If it helps you can save as a clone which will save the file structure but with no data. Phil
February 23, 200619 yr Author Hay thanks phil I have just attached an clone of the FMP file I am having trouble with the portal not pulling data through Cheers Hacky print_specs_Clone.fp7.zip
February 23, 200619 yr Hi Hacky I just had a sneeky-peek at your file. I assume that it is the portal at the bottom of the client layout that you are having difficulty with. I cannot quite work out what you are trying to do but the first thing to change is that the fields you have placed into that portal are fields from the project sheet relationship and the portal is formatted to show fields from the print specs relationship HTH Phil
February 23, 200619 yr Hi hacky, I looked at your file It might have been helpful for you to include some of the records that would have then made it easier to follow up with questions. I entered a basic project and client, can you tell me what it isn't doing? Lee
February 23, 200619 yr Author Hi Phil and Lee I have just add new clone with some data, The Portals is in the client layout area I was wanting to bring up a table of all projects having >company< >job ref< >job tile< and also having them as the relationship data links accross the tables ....... if this correct thanks for time again Cheers Hacky print_specs_Clone.fp7.zip
February 23, 200619 yr Okay, I review the latest file. First of all, do not base a relationship on a company name. They can change, be entered wrong, etc., it is better to use a unique ID. First Create a Client ID field in the Project TO, Next, populate the Client_Id (I changed your ID field to this in Client) with a unique number for each client. And be sure to use the same number Project TO Next, create a Relationship from the Client TO to the Project TO based on this new Field Next, change the Portal from whatever it was to this new Relationship. Next, choose each filed and change them to the New Relationship too. Here is your file, Modified as I explained above. HTH Lee print_specs_Clone-1.fp7.zip
