March 11, 200619 yr Has anyone noticed that, sometimes, the script runs faster than the actual record update. Occasionally I'll have a script change a record (Especially "set field") and if I don't put a .25 second pause after it, the script seems to keep on truckin, oblivious of the change. I discovered this when my script wouldn't do what it was supposed to but when I stepped it through debug IT WOULD! Thanks, Mel
March 11, 200619 yr Are you using Commit Record? The only time I've noticed a problem is with Troi Dialogs (I don't use Show Message) and switching layouts, and then a 1 second pause and Refresh does the trick. Steve
March 11, 200619 yr Author None of the above. It's not really a huge problem but it gets a little aggrivating sometimes when I forget to put a pause after a set field.
March 11, 200619 yr Nor have I ... ...(Especially "set field") and if I don't put a .25 second pause after it, the script seems to keep on truckin, oblivious of the change. Is this multi-user?
March 11, 200619 yr Author If I ever get done writing it, it will be but not at the present time. (just a green horn here) Also, thanks for the sample file Laretta. It helped tremendously!! Mel
March 11, 200619 yr Mel, I would hate to see you get in the habit of adding a pause after every Set Field[]. It truly isn't necessary if your script is written correctly. Can you post it here for review? Maybe we can spot what is happening...
March 11, 200619 yr Author I Finally Figured it out! It's the plugin I'm using...Dacons Scriptfire. Oh Well! In my opinion it's worth the price! Thanks for all the help! Mel P.S. Laretta, When I get done with the first small portion of this solution do you think you could give it a "once over" and give me your professional opinion?? I expect to have it done by the end of tomorrow. MJ
March 11, 200619 yr I would be happy to. But there are certainly greater minds on this forum than mine. If you feel comfortable, I suggest you post it here when ready. In this way, you will get many eyes viewing it. And each might spot something different. I put my stuff on here quite often (for review and improvement). This is why I adore FM Forums ... so many people helping each other. You'd pay a fortune to get professional advice such as this from such a great group. :wink2:

All of the people on this forum have helped save me hours and hours of aggravation, and I'm too old for that, and helped me build a pretty awesome, compared to what I had, app. Thanks to all of you.
