How to disable buttons in Find Mode so I can search by that field...???

Many times I add a Go to Related Record behavior to a field in a layout so I can just click on that field to view the related record. When I go into Find Mode, though, this field remains a "button" although it doesn't do anything at all in Find Mode. I can't enter any data into this field to Find on, though, because it switches the cursor like a button and when I click it tries to activate the related record...which of course there isn't one and nothing happens.

How can I disable this in Find Mode so that I can still search on this field, yet be able to use it to view related records in Edit mode?

Any info would be great. thanks!

I'm not sure I'm following you with that. It's not really a script that this is happening with. Say you just drag an ID field out onto a layout. Then right click on that field, go to Button Setup, and select Go to Related Record. It turns the field into a clickable button which takes you to the other record. It's not a script, though, so I'm not sure where I would make the changes you've mentioned here..??

Well, shoot, that doesn't seem to help. When I change to Perform Script in the button setup it still turns to a button cursor in Find Mode so I can't type anything into the field to find on.

You can change the cursor options so that the cursor won't change to a button (hand) cursor. Right click on the field in Layout Mode and select "Button Setup" and uncheck "Change to hand cursor over button".

Regardless of the cursor, if you click in the field the script will run and if you're in find mode, the script will go to the field.

See my attached example...

I'm not sure what I did wrong with your method but when I turn off the changing of the icon I still can't click into the field in Find Mode..??

Ah, I didn't see the script. Now I get it. Thanks!!
