Newbies Aban Posted March 27, 2007 Newbies Posted March 27, 2007 Does anybody know if we can create pivot table with filemaker? This option is available in access and I'm sure it's as well with FM but I can't find it. Thanks for your help
Genx Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 .. Well, there's a pivot table, and then there's a pivot table... Do you have an example of what you're wanting to represent?
Newbies Aban Posted March 29, 2007 Author Newbies Posted March 29, 2007 I'd like to sort, count and total data stored in my database in a cross table. For example to show the number of people per country and city (horizontally) per age (vertically)
mr_vodka Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 See is these threads help Cross Tab Thread Cross tab samples
barryfh Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Hello, As far as I can tell, these examples actually are totaling dollar amounts. My experience with cross tabs (aka contingency tables) in statistics software (SPSS, StatView; etc.) involves using them to count individuals organized into categories. For example, to answer the question which gender of college students is more likely to major in science, you would organize the data (the majors of a sample of individual female and male college students) into a matrix with female/male as the columns (or rows) and science/nonscience major as the rows (or columns). The individual cells' values would be counts (and percentages) of students. I'm trying to adapt Edoshin's cross tab to do this, but the programming is a beyond my skill level. Can someone provide pointers on how to accomplish this? Thanks and cheers!
