Well, Homepage is dead and gone now - Filemaker is no longer supporting it. Not that it's not good to continue using for CDML code, it's just that it'll never be updated.

You should take a look at using Lasso and its LDML code, of which CDML is a subset. Lasso is much more robust, faster and more flexible than CDML.

If you're looking for a tool similar to Homepage for LDML, have a look at Lasso Studio, available for both GoLive and Dreamweaver: http://www.pointinspace.com/lassostudio/

Lasso studio:

1 - Allows you to test your LDML code locally, instead of having to upload to a server first.

2 - Provides graphical representation of LDML tags in GL's or DW's layout modes, and also provides "wizards" for no-coding setup of common dynamic elements.

Hey kids.

I'm pretty new to the Web interface thing. I was taught how to do it in HomePage, and was delighted at how (relatively) simple it is. This was shortlived when I found out that HomePage isn't being produced anymore.

My HomePage disc has become my most treasured posession. But if the unspeakable happens, and I lose the disc ... and I need to re-install (I know - not likely - but I worry about these things), is there something similar that I can use?

There seems to be a lot of talk about Lasso; does it work similarly?

... or would I be condemned to a life of typing CDML code manually?

I'm lying trembling in the fetal position, awaiting your response.

Paul,

Just one tip from me. When you buy software, you are allowed to make a backup copy (it's legal). So in addition you should burn a copy of your Homepage disc. Actually, I would use the burn copy of the disc, in order to preserve the original. Just a thought. But yes Lasso is great.
