Custom Dialog Box

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a layout that has many custom dialog boxes. Is it possible to have a scroll bar included in a dialog box to accommodate various amounts of text or simply format the box so all of the text is in view without manually resizing the box on the lower right to show all text? I designed a runtime application with Filemaker Developer 7.0 and noticed several dialog boxes had the text cut off at the bottom, I had to resize the dialog box manually.

Can anyone help me out on this issue?

Thank You,

Steve

Not natively in FileMaker... You can look into Troi's Dialog plugin.

Another option is to create a FM layout with a scrollable textbox and use that instead of a custom dialog to popup.

And yet another workaround is to present a series of custom dialogs.

The user encounters the first custom dialog box, reads a sentence or two, then presses a NEXT button and the script calls up the next dialog. It displays a sentence or two and then the user presses NEXT again and another dialog pops up. This method can go on-and-on and doesn't feel too goofy unless there is a lot of information to display.

Mr_Vodka & Ted S,

Thank you for your help, I think I will go with the global filed with scrollable text box option. The Trios Dialog looks very good, but costs too much.
