Different value lists, determined by radio button

Featured Replies

(I promise I've tried to find this on the forums and interwebs; if this is a FAQ, please forgive me)

I have two value lists (ValueListA and ValueListB).

I have a radio-button field with the values "A" and "B".

I have a pop-up menu field.

How do I get the pop-up menu to display ValueListA or ValueListB based on whether "A" or "B" is selected in the radio-button field?

Thanks in advance, if anyone can help me-

Try and advanced search for +conditional +valuelist and you should come across multiple samples that should help you.

I did (after seeing that advice in numerous conditional-valuelist threads), but I couldn't seem to find a relevant example. Most seem to be the "category-subcategory" type of thing, which isn't quite what I'm doing.

I'm sure the answer's out there somewhere, so I'll keep looking.

If you create a table with your values and you have a field that labels each item as either A or B... You can use a conditional value list.

Right, thanks, I do have a basic grasp of how conditional value lists work (thanks to this forum).

I should've explained that my two value lists are related fields from another table. I want to use field A in one case, field B in another case.

If I could define a value list as a calculation:

if ( LocalRadioButton="A" ; RelatedFieldA ; RelatedFieldB )

...then it'd do what I'm trying to get it to do, but of course you can't define a value list like that.

I have a feeling I'm just stuck on a false conceptual idea and can't get myself to see past it.

Oh, man, that does the trick perfectly. Thank you so much.

Thanks, raybaudi. That would work if I could assign static "A" or "B" values to the records, but, unfortunately, each record is going to be either A or B depending on other criteria.
