ssseeesss Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I am new to filemake. Is it possible to copy script (or a few line of codes) between projects? I couldn't even open two script edit windows at the same time so that I can use one as a reference. The only thing I can do is to print the script on a piece of paper.
Lee Smith Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Have you tried importing the Scripts. You get a list of the script from the File to be copied, when you do that. Select the one's you want, and import. Other wise, it is a one at a time. Another approach is to use a utility such as Clip Board 2. HTH Lee Edited June 17, 2008 by Guest
mr_vodka Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 If you can are able to get your hands on a copy of Advanced, then you can easily do this with a normal copy / paste.
comment Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 It's a version 9 feature and it doesn't require Advanced.
mr_vodka Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 If I remember correctly, you could copy and paste steps in FM8 and 8.5 Advance... ?
Lee Smith Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I said that already. has anybody seen my Screwdriver? :giggle:
comment Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Yes, that's correct - sorry for adding more confusion. To summarize: to copy/paste script steps, you need either version 9 or the Advanced version of 8.5 (don't know about v.8).
fabriceN Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 In this case, where you want to copy from another file, I would recommand the import script feature, because it comes with an import log that will help you finding out missing fields, subscripts or custom functions. By the way, this would be a great improvement to the copy/paste feature.
comment Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I get a log for copy/paste too - even if it's in the same file and same script.
fabriceN Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Indeed ! Thanks. But do you have an alert if there is an error like during an import ? I surely don't. Edited June 17, 2008 by Guest
comment Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I don't think there's much chance for an error when you copy/paste within the same file - but if I paste into another file I do get an error log.
