Help with Omit Script

Featured Replies

Good evening everyone.....

I have struggled with this one for a while and need some help.

I have figured the part below between the << >> now to get this to work.

When I am in the "Specify Find Request" dialog how do insert a previously set variable in the "criteria"?

I am putting $OrdNum in the criteria box and FMP Literally puts "$OrdNum" in the field instead of the variable.

This is driving me nuts becuase it seems like it should be so easy yet I cannot get it to work! I know I must be missing something basic.

Thanks,

Steve

<

My Fields are "pkOrdNum" and "PrdID"

I want to be to find all Records with a certain Order Number but Omit those with a PrdID that equals DISC>>

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

When run in Find mode, the Omit Record script step checks the "omit" option for the request.

Hi Vaughn,

I am sorry but I do not undestand your reply.

Steve

You can't use variable data in the Specify Find dialog. Instead you need to do it this way in your script:

Enter Find Mode

Set Field( field ; $variable )

Perform Find

I understand I can script as you state...

But how do I "Add a New Request"

So I can Find for "X"

but Omit "Y"

Thanks,

Steve

PS I have a work around but it is long and requires exporting to a temporary table and then finding and deleting the records I don;t wnat to display.

Enter Find Mode

Set Field( field ; $variable1 )

New Record Request

Set Field (Field; $variable2)

Omit

Perform Find

Thanks Lee.....

I was going to try that and then I talked myself out of it without trying...that was dumb of me!
