January 12, 200917 yr I know this can be done. I just can't find in the manual the right words to find it. I have an invoice layout with links to a contact table & a calculation table. All I want is that when the invoice is finished, I can block the entry so that if the contact info or calculations change, they do not change automatically the invoice I have created. On the other hand, I still need to be able to change info in the entry if need be. many thanks
January 12, 200917 yr you need to do lookups into fields on your invoice table and not use the related data displayed from the contact table. To 'close' your invoice records you can either use some sort record level privilege set or a flag in a field that when going to that record (via scripts) takes you to a duplicate layout that has all field entry options turned off (no editing) - however layout and script based options could be circumvented if you haven't explored all the ways a user can navigate to or from your record and layout. January 12, 200917 yr Instead of having related fields on your invoice layout you need to create extra fields in your invoice TABLE which will AUTO-ENTER by LOOKUP the data from the contacts table. You can use the same relationships that you are using already.
