Dr.Hamed Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I have two fields for payments that can be filled by any of the three cashiers that work on my customers file. How can i keep track of the changes made on these fields??
mr_vodka Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 do an advanced search for +audit +log and you should come across many posts.
Lee Smith Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 There are a couple of sites that you will want to save as favoriates. Databasepros.com Link and nightwing.com Link there are others, but for now you should find a demo of Audit Files at the two links. Be sure you match the version to your version of FileMaker HTH Lee
Dr.Hamed Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 Thanks, It seems that this is exactly what i need, but how can i implement this superlog () custom function in my database??
Lee Smith Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Hi Gary, I'm hoping that in the next release of FileMaker that they will incoporate an import or copy like they have with scripts, fields, TOs. However, for now we have to copy the parts of the Custom Function into our files. The easiest way is to use Clip Manager. Link However, it is not hard to paste in the different parts to your file. Start with the name [color:blue]SuperLog Then the Parameters [color:blue]LogField FieldsToLog and then the [color:blue]calculation. Be sure that the Calculation is the Last thing you copy. Lee
Dr.Hamed Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 It seems that I need a pro version to be able to handle custom functions!! Is there any way to get around this? Many thanks for your help.
Josh Ormond Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 (edited) What version of FM are you using? Your profile says 8 Advanced. Is that what you are using? Pretty sure Custom Functions were available in 8 (And 7 Developer, if I remember right). You need advance to add/modify CF's. Edited June 26, 2009 by Guest
Dr.Hamed Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 Actually I'm using FM10 Pro and it does not have the custom functions, see attached jpg
Josh Ormond Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 You need Advanced to add/edit custom functions. But they are already in the file, you can use them. Either you need to upgrade to Advanced...or Have someone with Advanced put the custom function in your file for you.
Lee Smith Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Create the Custom Function in your 8 Advance, and then open the file in v10. Lee
LaRetta Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Actually I'm using FM10 Pro and it does not have the custom functions, And you might change your profile to reflect that you are using Pro and not Advanced so further assistance can match what you have. Note also, that when you create a new post, if you are posting about a different version than you are using (as reflected in your profile), then you can select it (and it will show at the bottom of your first post). So are you still on vs. 8 but the question was about 10? If you are on vs. 10, change your profile from 8 to 10 as well.
