Infomatics Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Hi, If I try to open a pdf from SuperContainer in FileMaker GO the pdf is displayed in the webview instead of opened in a pdf viewer. Is it possible to direct it to a pdf viewer? iBooks?/ Safari? Best regards, Ruben van den Boogaard Infomatics Software
Vaughan Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Have you tried the Open URL script step? I'm pretty sure it's supported in FM Go.
Valentin Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Take a look at using the RawData URL: http://www.360works.com/plugins/SuperContainer/documentation.html#section20
andru Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I'm working on access to PDFs on the Go right now. I'm not able to open any pdf's from SC360 on the Go. Did you have to make any modifications to your database to allow you to open a pdf? does it autoload in Safari? i would love that as a first step just to be able to see the info. My database and the supercontainer files are behind a firewall. The database is accessible on Go and working well. Also, i'm finding that even when opening a website from Go, the website doesn't auto-open in safari (it works fine from filemaker pro). Go gives me the option but then ignores it and returns without opening the website. any advice?
Jesse Barnum Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 The only way to open any content in FileMaker Go in Safari is with the open URL script step. We've done some testing on web viewer in FileMaker Go, and apparently there is no way to open a link in Safari; all interaction is always kept inside the web viewer sandbox.
supernatural Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I tried the v2.75 SC on my iPhone. Opening pdf works fine but I have problem playing the QT movie. It gave me "Cannot play movie" error. Any suggestion ?
Jesse Barnum Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Not all movies are encoded in a format that works on iOS. Try putting the movie on a web site and going to that URL in Safari. If it works, it may be a bug in SuperContainer. If it doesn't, you need to re-encode that movie in a format that runs on iOS. The easiest way to do this if you're on OS X is to open it in QuickTime and then File->Save, and pick a compatible format from the pull-down menu.
andru Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I upgraded to the 2.76 version on my server and then tried Go again. Still no luck, PDFs don't open but it looks like it's trying harder than before. Is there something else I need to do to my scripts within filemaker to allow this to work? AZ
Valentin Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 On FM Go the PDF stored in SuperContainer can be displayed in a webviewer or opened via Open URL script step. Which of these are you having trouble with?
andru Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 (edited) I am using SCOpen script since my database is primarily used locally. It seems I would need to change my script so that when it detects a Go user it runs the open URL command instead? Do you have a suggestion for how to do this? What are the advantages of opening it in a web viewer instead? and how do you do it? thanks for any help! Edited September 13, 2010 by Guest
