HunterBoss Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 When I typed in "address correction" in the forum search, I didn't find anything in the Forums that related to what I was looking for. It did, however, return four Google adds for services or databases that will do this. But they're external from FM. Anybody heard of a solution written inside FM? thanks Christopher
Lee Smith Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Hi Christopher, I guess I'm like the Forum, I'm not understanding what you are looking for either. Want to give us the details as to what you are trying to accomplish. Lee
HunterBoss Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 Thanks Lee There are algorithms out there -- Pitney Bowes has them, some of the online services to get stamps have them -- that "correct" or standardize addresses. Let's say you type in: 124 South Main Street Anytown, Illinois 65000 And let's assume the "official" US Post Office version of that address is: 124 S Main St Anytown, IL 65000-1234 That's what I mean. That help a bit? Like I said, I've found a couple that are online solutions that can be accessed/integrated with XML transfers, but I was wondering if anybody had every heard of anyone doing this within FM itself. Thanks Christopher
bruceR Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Suggest you look at something like this: http://nrgsoft.com/products/address_validation/index.php I have no connection to NRGSoft but I know they do very high quality work.
Lee Smith Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Hi Christopher, There have been several threads about zip code and address information needs over the years. I just did a quick search for zipcode, using the Forum Search (Search » Advance » Keywords [color:blue]+zipcode) and I received 177 hits (the max is 250). I would suspect that about one third of those would be about setting up files for getting zip code and address information to be posted automatically. There was a recent tread about Post Office Address and Zip codes, and this video by Matt Petrowsky called "Using Geo Location Data" Link that may be of interest to you. It is a subscriber only solution, but he has a preview video you can watch to see if you want to join. The cost is nominal for the resources you will receive. BTW, How big of an area are you talking about, one City, State, states that are next to your state, the whole country, etc. ? HTH Lee
HunterBoss Posted October 29, 2010 Author Posted October 29, 2010 Thanks both of you. I've both put a call into NRGsoft and am downloading the ISO video. Glad I've got that subscription now. Christopher
