I have layout with two elements on it, a rectangle and a container field. When I copy and paste the rectangle into the container field, and then overlay the container on top of the original graphic, there is a notcible color shift between the two of them.

Any suggestions on how to get around this problem?

Sorry for my poor English. I can not understand your question.

How can you copy a rectangle into container?

and as I know, we can not adda conditional formatting onto rectangle like we do on field ot text, what do you mean there is a noticible color shift between them?

1.) Go into layout mode.

2.) Create any shape (rectangle, circle, etc.) and assign a color fill to it (such as red).

3.) Copy the shape to clipboard.

4.) Enter browse mode.

5.) Paste the clipboard contents into a container field (rectangle, circle, etc.).

6.) Position the container so the original graphic and the one in the container are overlapping.

7.) You will see a slight shift in color between them. They are no longer an exact match.

I assume the color shift occurs for the same reason that the color picker in Filemaker does not sample the correct colors on a Mac, it's a color profile issue. As a workaround, I am having to go through this annoying extra step of copying the graphic from FileMaker, pasting it into Photoshop, and then exporting it as a PNG file. Argh!

This may not be helpful to you, But the color picker in FileMaker Pro doesn't always produce the results I look for. As an example, I have tried to use the eyedropper to copy a color on the layout to an object on the same layout, and for some reason that color will be off as you noted.

Sorry don't have an answer, maybe someone else will, but I thought it might be helpful to you to know that others have this problem.

The video shows exactly what my experience has been. This bug has driven me nuts trying to getting the colors correct. I've used Color Schemer in the past, but never thought to use it for this.

Thanks for the heads up,

The Color Schemer process is an added step but in some ways I like it a little better. I like all of the extra features that Color Schemer introduces into the color selection process. I particularly like how it lets you automatically pull color pallets from photos. I also like being able to save my color pallets and recall them whenever I need them in the future. It also easily allows me to have the same working color pallet in Photoshop, Illustrator and FileMaker, which is really handy.

TIP: When exporting your color pallets from Color Schemer for importing into FileMaker/The Apple's Color Picker, you must export the pallet with as a ".CLR" file. Use ".AI" for Adobe Illustrator pallets and for Photoshop export the pallet as a ".ACO".
