amalthea5 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 In my office we are currently using FM Pro 8. I want to upgrade to FM Pro 13. Is my version too old for an upgrade? Do I need to buy the full version and just convert my existing databases to the new format? Thanks!
Sky Willmott Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 You will be able to upgrade your FMPro 8 files using FMPro 13 - it will convert them to the .fmp12 format from the .fp7 format that FMPro 7-11 used…..
amalthea5 Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 Yes I understand that part. But can I buy the upgrade version of FM Pro 13 or do I need to buy the full version of the program?
Josh Ormond Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 You have to buy the full version. Or if you can find an unused, cheap version of 10 or 11 or 12.
Lee Smith Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Beware of buying a cheap copy. Is my version too old for an upgrade? FileMaker only goes back two versions for the upgrade pricing. Beyond that, they sometimes have specials for FileMaker, in fact I think they still have a two for one special?
Rick Whitelaw Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I started on FM Pro version 8. Considering the many updates have cost between $300-$400 each, having to pay the full pop for 13 is a bargain compared to following the update path between 8 and 13. Go figure!
amalthea5 Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 We went ahead and bought the full version. I am in love with all the updates! This program is so fantastic. Thanks for the help!
LaRetta Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I started on FM Pro version 8. Considering the many updates have cost between $300-$400 each, having to pay the full pop for 13 is a bargain compared to following the update path between 8 and 13. Go figure! Ah. But you got to use the updated versions for all the years between versions. In truth, if you use the program, upgrading each version is the better deal. :-)
Rick Whitelaw Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Of course, LaRetta, I'm more than glad to have followed the upgrade path and to have had the opportunity to use the versions as they came out. Also, I wasn't complaining about the upgrade prices. Just making the comparison!
