LaRetta Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I am considering buying an iPod Touch 32GB http://store.apple.com/us/buy-ipod/ipod-touch/32gb-silver It says iOS 7. Can FMGo run on this please?
LaRetta Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 BTW, I am iPod and iPhone illiterate. I know iPads but not these tools so I appreciate any input on it. :-)
Rick Whitelaw Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 FM Go 13 should run on iOS 7. it does on my iPhone 4.
LaRetta Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 Thank you, Rick! I just found out it isn't a phone but it can mimic an iPhone for testing of FMGo so that is good news. :-)
Josh Ormond Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 You got it LaRetta. It's slightly slower than the equivalent iPhone, and no actual phone app, but will run FM Go fine.
comment Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Don't you want to wait until Apple's (rumored) October event? They might announce new models (the current ones are two years old).
LaRetta Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 Good morning!! Thank you, Josh! Oh! I didn't know a new one was coming out, Michael! I appreciate you letting me know! I can wait for sure. :-) I just want to be testing and using on all devices for which I am developing so it is either that or iPhone which seems like a much larger investment. Currently I pay $17 a month for a phone (they give me) and service and no contract. iPhone seems a bit much for me. But until I can run my program on one, I will never really know how well our design works.
comment Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Oh no, I didn't say a new one was coming out. I said a new one might come out. So if you're not in a hurry, you might save yourself the disappointment of buying the current model just before it's being replaced. But there's no telling with Apple.
LaRetta Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 Ah. You said 'might' ... just woke up! Still it is worth waiting to see. Nothing is more disappointing than buying any product or software only to have a new one come out (or go on sale) immediately after. It should be fine ... I am such a fuss-bucket on making decisions that it will probably take me that long just to make the decision on color!! I originally thought red but then a thief could spot it easier if s/he was zipping by on a bike wanting to steal something. I will probably get the grey.
comment Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 You could get a red one and put in a grey case...
LaRetta Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 LOL, best of both worlds. I have an XTREME case for my iPad http://g-form.com/index.php/technology/. They said it could be dropped from a plane and not break it but I haven't tested it. I will certainly want to get protection for the iPod as well. LOL, now I see they say it can be dropped from space. Well, let's see ... terminal velocity doesn't increase from higher than ... oh well, I get their drift.
riprock Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I'm using iPod touch 5th generation (latest) running FileMaker Go 13.0.5 just fine The latest version was updated a few days ago, a day after iOS 8 was updated http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13985 If your iPod touch comes with iOS 7, you need to update it to v8. Some stats: FM Go 13.0.4 was 235.5MB in size The new FM Go 13.0.5 is 127.1MB
LaRetta Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) This is very good to know, riprock. I hope this optimisation of code also effects iPad. I confess to be a bit of a newbie in these tools (iPod and iPhone) but not for much longer!! Thank you! Edited September 20, 2014 by LaRetta
