LVA Posted March 12, 2003 Posted March 12, 2003 I have a solution working as follows: on the server computer - windows 2000 server , filemaker server and the filemaker files; on the client computers - windows 2000 Pro and Filemaker Pro. This solution should work on the internet and I'm not sure what I need to do. Clients should be able to read on-line information from the filemaker solution that I already have. Is it possible to use the same server I already have to be the web server ? If I can, should I install filemaker Unlimited on the server computer? If not what should I do to use FM Unlimitted for this solution ? Thanks, LVA
Anatoli Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Before you spend money on Unlimited try it on one machine with normal client. The difference is only the number of IP which can connect. For FM server use just W2000 client, it works blazingly fast. Then, when everything is OK, go for Unlimited and install that on W2000 server.
Steve T. Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Hi, LVA! My 2 cents: I think I've read here in FMFORUMS that you should not use Server and Unlimited on the same machines (although you can and it will work, it is not recommended). Search the posts for Server and Unlimited and you should come up w/something. You will need Unlimited for Internet publishing, but Anatoli is correct: FMP-U and FMP regular client are the same thing except for the IP restriction.
