Newbies Cyberella Posted June 11, 2003 Newbies Posted June 11, 2003 I really hate asking for information when I haven't contributed to the forum knowledge base, but here goes: In configuring FMP 6 on XP Professional, under the 'help' menu there is information on 'registering' and 'help on web' and such. I don't want to give network clients access ... I'd like those features greyed out. A custom install is not an option....any ideas? thank you
Fitch Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 The fact that YOU can connect to help on the web has no bearing on clients connecting TO you. Just set your FileMaker files' File:Sharing: to Single-user, all done.
Newbies Cyberella Posted June 11, 2003 Author Newbies Posted June 11, 2003 Thank you, but wouldn't that affect my shared database if I disabled file sharing? Is there a registry key out there somewhere?
Fitch Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 You just said you "don't want to give network clients access." So you don't want others on your network to have access to FileMaker databases on your computer. Right? What I'm saying is, set your FileMaker files to single-user. Choose Sharing from the File menu. This is completely separate from "file sharing" in the sense of Mac or Windows network file sharing. Which, by the way, you should NEVER use to share FileMaker databases. Only use the sharing that is built into FileMaker.
