Newbies David Rosen Posted June 18, 2003 Newbies Posted June 18, 2003 Hello, I'm trying to create a useable FMP database solution for my lighting company that rents equipment. Of all the FMP inventory solutions I've seen, they all deal with sales inventory. Does anybody have any suggestions for creating a comprehensive rental solution? Specifically, I'd like to have a solution that allows a user to enter numerous items (equipment items) into an order for a customer, set a Rental Begin Date (items leave our inventory) and a Rental End Date (items are to be returned), as well as an order status category (e.g. "quote", "reserved", "out", "returned".) The user would have a button that could search for the availability of all items in an order/quote within the RentalBeginDate and RentalEndDate. Thanks in advance!
Ugo DI LUCA Posted July 4, 2003 Posted July 4, 2003 This is an old one, but as it was left empty, I thought I might drop some lines on that one with another question. The essential difference from a Rental system and a Saling system is that the Quantity Sold is a Quantity Rented and the Quantity Purchased is the Quantity Returned. The Quantity Returned should equal the Quantity Rented. My first thoughts... Interresting topic I'd like to study though if others have done this and point some keys. I'm in touch with a "Outillage" Rental company here and may be developping a Business Solution for them. Strange you post and you disappear though....
LaRetta Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 Hi, A while back, (ya'all remember it don't you?), ColbatSky provided a demo. I have a copy of the demo file but it would be best if you find the exact post. It provided a solution to Reservations for rooms. I don't have time to research it now, but it sounds like you should check it out. The theory would be exactly the same. LaRetta
LaRetta Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 Here is the link. The demo is on page 2 by CobaltSky. A Little Help About Dates ... Please? Cheers! LaRetta
Ugo DI LUCA Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 Thanks LaRetta.... Well, I've been posting there. Well this was excellent. Not sure I can consider my tools as rooms though. I'll give it a second eye.
LaRetta Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 Hi, The link I referred to (where CobaltSky posted a demo file on page 2) will not allow download of the file ... at least for me. So I'm attaching another demo copy for you. I hope Ray would understand! It targets room reservations and might work for you! I've used this same principle for a U-Haul rental company recently. You would have to adjust it a bit to fit your specific needs. Ray's demo is an incredible piece of work. LaRetta Reservations_v2.zip
AudioFreak Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 Welcome back LaRetta but the link is no good. Michael
Lee Smith Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 None of the attachment links for the Forum are working. They haven't been all day.
LaRetta Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 Hi Michael, The link works for me but the download doesn't! And thanks for the 'welcome back.' A day off does wonders. Now, I'm back to work!! For anyone interested in this process, it would be good if you read the thread even though I've given you the demo file again. Begin reading where CobaltSky steps into the picture. The demo covers renting a room for a date range, searching for rooms available on a specific date, and even provides a great visual display of all rooms rented. Very cool! LaRetta
