Xas Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Just installed Apache and Lasso 7 and converted all my (I am certain) flawless CDML, HTML pages (nearly 93 pages for one database segment) on a test machine accessing FMPro 6.0 Unlimited - on another machine. The converter plugin for GolIve really stinks. It has taken nearly 2 days to repair/fix bugs ON ONE PAGE!, in code that should have been converted - what they claim is simpe and nearly the same as LDML. Sure - a conversion occurs and reports no errors. But the pages all blow up or report really nice pages with cryptic errors that cover really strange errors. If CDML is so compatible - how come I get so many errors?:?
Steve T. Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 Huh. I do not have Lasso but I was under the assumption that CDML would not need to be converted at all. That was one of the reasons we had considered Lasso in the first place... we did not want to have to modify our existing solutions. We ended up not going that route due to costs and the growing popularity of open source tools like PHP, but since you've paid the price both figuratively and literally, I'd ask Blueworld Tech Support to help you out. Gaah! That's not good to hear. Maybe it's something silly like using Apache 1.3 instead of 2.0 or something (frown and headshake). I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this problem, though... Let's hear from some of you other CDML to Lasso folks! --ST
Xas Posted June 1, 2004 Author Posted June 1, 2004 It's hard to get reliable info on this topic - in fact if it was so popular there would be more posts concerning Lasso. Since this is the Lasoo/Cmdl index 80% of the posts are dealing with Cdml and this should seriously be put on the back-burner since it is now old technology with no future. Lasoo does work - it is similar to Cdml, but I swear I have to tinker with each file I convert and replace many of the 'auto' conversions with the proper syntax in order to get them to work. The Lasso forum on Blueworld sucks and it's hard to get help right away - like this excellent board provides. I would also figure that some of the dudes on this forum are developers and should have advance copies of Advanced Server 7 - but alas, there is nothing on this either - so we must just ber patient and wait.
Steve T. Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 Hey, again! Actually, the good folks at FMFORUMS reorganized the forums categories when FM7 was officially released. The CDML Custom Web Publishing forum was where I used to hang out most and spend a lot of time both learning and helping. With CDML being phased out, they decided to merge the CDML / CWP forum with the Lasso forum... which is what we have today as of this posting, but that's why it's so CDML heavy... it used to be its own forum. Yeah, you're right... it's gonna get less and less traffic as it fades away... --ST
