How do I script a find to show records that have no data in a specific field?

Thanks

I also need a way to find which date fields have data in them

In Find mode, Set Field to = (i.e., just the equal sign).

Thanks transpower, any idea how I also check for data being present in addition to missing?

To find records with data in the field, use an asterisk instead of an equals sign.

Hi JT,

I couldn't get the * to work in a Date field. It wanted to revert the data to date or to modifty my find.

That was why I used the = and Omit approach in his other post.

Ah, I didn't notice the two threads were related nor that it was referring to a date field. In that case, I would opt for a script, if this is to be done regularly.

Set Error Capture [On]

Perform Find [Restore; Action: Omit Records when; datefield =]

I forgot that the Data type Date wasn't mentioned in this post. The two posts are borderline Double Posts. The second one seems to be a continuation of the same problem. It can really gets confusing when they do this.

Sorry Guys, I posted the query into the other forum, as from the replies I had received in this post, it seemed like I should have placed it into the 'Finding and Searching' area anyway. Next time I'll place a note to let people know.
