January 18, 200521 yr This problem just started yesterday and is getting progressively worse. I have numerous navigation buttons using the "Go to layout" function, where the target layout is designated by layout name. Recently, some of my users have experienced failures with this function. Instead of taking them to the designated layout, it is taking them to the very first layout in the list. I have not changed the layout names and cannot duplicate the problem on my computer. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
January 18, 200521 yr How are the users accessing the files? Single User, Web, Server, Filesharing... ? Lee
January 19, 200521 yr Any chance their problems occur after a print? I have some very unusual refresh window problems cropping up with time with buttons that are to take users to another layout. Solved by creating a script that goes to the layout and then refreshes the window.
January 19, 200521 yr cannot duplicate the problem on my computer. 1. PEBCAK! (problem exists between chair and keyboard) Can you have them demonstrate it to you on their machines? 2. Do the users who see the problem have a copy of the file(s) installed locally? 3. Is the navigation via a script, or is the button just the "Go To Layout" step only? Jerry
January 19, 200521 yr Author 1. No, because it doesn't happen every time. The weird thing is that there is no nearby button that goes to the layout they are being taken to. It is also up to four people that have reported this problem, all from different screens. 2. No. 3. It is the "go to layout" step only, no script. Also, all four people are in the same privilege set, and that particular privilege set has the second highest level of access and has permission to every layout except one. No other privilege set has reported this problem as of yet. I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to see a pattern that even though they are on different layouts when it happens, they all seem to be trying to go to the same layout, which happens to be #2 in the list. Instead, they are all being routed (although not every time) to the #1 layout. And the "go to layout" references the correct layout by name, not by number. The layout names are completely different, too. I was hoping the problem was related to a server lock up that we had and would be temporary, but it happened again today (but only once).
January 19, 200521 yr first off try not to use the goto script step only. we have had some problems with that . Create a seperate script for each goto .. After goto layout make sure you use the select window script step that seems to work for us.. Stu
January 20, 200521 yr Author So, are you saying it is a bug with the software? Not the first one I've found.
January 21, 200521 yr I cant say weather its a bug or not .. I just know we get better performance that way.. We also publish using IWP to the web and that is a step that we need to take in order to navigate.... SO11 we have standardized on that format hope that helps Stu
