jd9027 Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Just curious if it is possible to integrate Flash in Filemaker. Is this a new forum. I have not seen a single post in here How is this done. Using PHP and filemaker or some other way? I wished I could use filemaker in the place of MySQL somehow. Though they say MySQL is powerful, I found it extremely difficult to use from the commandline.
Garry Claridge Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 You can access FM from Flash with http requests. The data returned will be in XML format, hence you will need to handle XML with Flash. Good Luck. Garry p.s. Check the archives for older posts to this forum.
Newbies intelijens Posted June 13, 2005 Newbies Posted June 13, 2005 Thanks for the posts!! I am trying to do the same thing. I am using Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Professional with Filemaker Pro Server 7 Advanced. Is http request the only way to make the 2 communicate with each other? I would like information to be transfering back and forth real time with end users. If a browser end user goes into a dynamic page I would like the information to be updated automatically. I would also like for changes made on Filemaker to be updated on the website. I also wasn't sure how to read back up on the archives, is there an archive section? Thanks again for any input!
Garry Claridge Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Do a "Search" on Flash with posts older than 1 month and newer than 2 years. Hopefully that should show the older posts. If the communication is from Flash in a browser, I believe http would be the only way to communicate with FM. However, the http requests are "hidden" in functions in Flash. You may be able to use the Flash XML Connector to do all of the communicating. All the best. Garry
Newbies tony gasparich Posted July 11, 2005 Newbies Posted July 11, 2005 I don't see much action on this topic, but I just ran into the same problem. I have a client who has flash movies on his website. He wants me to use a filemaker 7 database to manage the pricing in the flash movies. Any suggestions? Does anyone know of any tutorials on this?
Garry Claridge Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 You may need either FM Server Advanced or phpCafe. They will return XML to Flash. The Macromedia web site has notes on XML handling. Good Luck. Garry
Newbies tony gasparich Posted July 15, 2005 Newbies Posted July 15, 2005 The database is being hosted by an external service provider who has Server Advanced. Would I need to ask them to do anything at their end?
Garry Claridge Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 You shouldn't need to do anything to FMSA to use Flash to access the database. Garry
