Rushhour Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Hi Is there anyway to import customers records like their names and emails from excel to filemaker?? Thanks a lot in advance Kelvin
Wim Decorte Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 FileMaker natively supports importing from Excel file. Check out Import from the File menu or the Import script step.
BrentHedden Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Certainly it cam be done, if a few different ways. In fact, it's quite easy to do. Like Wim suggested, check out the help section to see how to do this.
mlindal Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 take the excel file and drag it on top of the filemaker icon and tada - it opens as a filemaker table. But yes - importing is quite simple as well if you follow the help guide.
Garry Claridge Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 (edited) Is Kelvin asking if it is possible through PHP? PHP can upload, read files and send the data to Filemaker, however I'm not sure if it can make enough sense of the content of an Excel spread-sheet file to achieve what is desired (it would be able to make sense of an Excel CSV file). Good Luck. Garry p.s. A little bit of research tells me that you may be able to access an Excel spread-sheet with PHP via ODBC. Edited January 11, 2006 by Guest
Rushhour Posted January 16, 2006 Author Posted January 16, 2006 Thanks Gary and all I have managed to figure it out. FM 'help' is great~ Cheers, Kelvin
