nandito Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Hi Gang, I have a FM database that several users will be able to access simultanously. I want to have a place where I can see which users are currently logged on. Is this possible? I know that if I click to close the file, then a list of connected users appear. I want to do a more elegant solution. Thanks, Nandito
Lee Smith Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 How are the files being accessed. Peer to peer, web, server, etc. Lee
nandito Posted June 21, 2006 Author Posted June 21, 2006 Hi Lee, The file will be accessed either peer to peer, or we may buy FM Server to host. For now there are no plans for Web access. Thanks!
Genx Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Not REAALLLY, though what you can do is return a delimeted list of all the ip addresses currently connected to the file using: Get(SystemIPAddress) ... then if this network runs with static ip's you could assign these ip's to individual users in a user table and check that way... i wouldn't recommend any sort of log table or anything because they require scripts to log people out as well as in so arent a reliable measure as to whether people are actually connected at the time.
Lee Smith Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 You should read up on the Peer to Peet restrictions. Lee
Wim Decorte Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Thinking a little out of the box: when using FMS, you can use the SAT tool or the SAT tool command line to get a list of connected users. That's what the tool is for (and other things).
