Genx Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Is it just me or have the last six or so joy of tech's been completely orientated towards the iPhone... C'mon guys, it's joy of tech, not joy of mac.
Ender Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 C'mon, man. Jump on the band wagon. Everybody's doin' it!
Genx Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 Lol, so tempted, but i have to say i enjoyed Bill Gates' key note... And some of the new windows stuff is pretty cool... But at the same time, I may be making an addition to my 8 PC's - A Mac Still hate them though :
LaRetta Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Ah, Genx, Macs are INCREDIBLE. I just bought an iMac 24-wide. I thought I'd have to re-learn a new OS but my Mac is elegant and logical (beyond words). Comparing my Mac to my Dell (side-by-side) is an eye-opener. There is NO comparison. None. iPhones are very cool and well worth the bandwidth given them. Once you use a Mac, working on a windows system feels like working with a child's toy. I'll always have a windows system as well but I work mostly on my Mac. I've been windows-only for 30 years and in the first hour of using my Mac, my heart was taken. BTW, did Bill Gates' system crash during THIS presentation like when he presented XP? LaRetta
Genx Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 "BTW, did Bill Gates' system crash during THIS presentation like when he presented XP?" LOL!!! But No. I know, I know, but i did work an a Mac for a year 2 years back, so it's not like i have an unfounded dislike for them -- And i'm not saying i hate them, I mean I am going to spend my precious money on buying one - I'm just saying I'll always have and probably always will like my Windows box(s) more PLUS to be perfectly frank (not that this has actually mattered to me in a while) but gaming SUCKS on Mac's (so does using Flash) -- For computers that claim to be for entertainment, the only platform they support is Java?
Ender Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Hi LaRetta, Welcome to the other side. But 24"? Are you sure you can handle that giant? I mean, it could tip over and squash you! I think you had better let me take that off your hands. I could probably find you a nice little 12" iBook or something that's a bit safer. ;)
Genx Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 Oh and Windows Vista has progressive file backups... So if your FM crashes, you can restore to an hour ago even if you forgot to manually backup did you know that? Lol, and a dumb feature, but they also have moving wall papers.
Genx Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 24" you say... ******* it i'm still on 17", they're all i've got lying around!! Oh well, pay day comes around soon ;)
Genx Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 I can't believe the filter blanked out dam...n
LaRetta Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 You'd better HOPE you have easier backups to protect from crashes because you'll need it. I'm tired of the crashing and IRQ conflicts and configuration problems and software/hardware incompatibilities! I have better things to do with my time - like play with Garage Band. How cool. Hey Mike! My theory was for bigger screen at lower res so everything was larger and easier to read. But it's not working that way. When I decrease the res (it's set to 1920x1200) down to my windows and our work systems (1024x768), the screen blanks on both sides by two inches. I wanted all that space AND larger programs. But I'll work it out. It was funny that I couldn't make my apps larger - they were half the size as they are on my windows. I tried maximize but then realized everything ALREADY was full sized. Ha ha! Okay, I won't go on ... My favorite about my new Mac? When it goes to sleep, a sweet 50 px diameter circle slowly pulses on and off ... it looks like it's breathing in that slow, mellow way when someone is sleeping. Oh wait ... no, I think my favorite is the DVD slides into the side of the monitor! No drawer! And NO BOX!!! No dumb wires at all except one elec cord. Elegance. That's what Macs are. Everything I think - I just point and my Mac is set up that way as well. It's logically structured and I don't have to hunt all over like on Windows (BTW, I'm 95/98 Certified so I'm not a windows dummy either)! But Macs just think more clearly. Okay. I'll shut up. It's hard not to talk about something so incredible. No dumb windows app borders! YAY! And, no matter how I try, I can't crash my Mac when I overload my clipboard! In fact, I haven't been able to make it do anything other than just serve me. Okay, I'll shut up. But Macs ROCK ROCK. I know nothing about gaming. And I don't hate Windows - I like them. But it's just like people - I may like someone but that doesn't mean I want to go to bed with them. Windows can be my friend. But Macs are my lovers. LaRetta
Genx Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 "Windows can be my friend. But Macs are my lovers." AHAHHAHA, Lol you crack me up, You just hate dell's cause they're black dont you! Ahhhhh, sigh. Anyway, point taken, in a few months we'll see.
Inky Phil Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I've got to agree with LaRetta's point about elegance. I would imagine that most people will be happiest with the platform that they are most familiar with but I don't think that anyone can argue that the macs aren't beautiful pieces of design. And if anyone does want to argue the point, just ask yourself this question - which one would you invite to your wedding? Can you imagine what the photographs would be like if you didn't choose the mac? Phil
Genx Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 I never said they weren't beautiful, but there's beauty on the inside too you know ;)
LaRetta Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Hey, Windows is the platform which ( currently ) provides my ( and many others' ) income. Me wuvs Windows. My only REAL problem with the Mac is that I keep wanting to right-click. Ha ha.
Genx Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 My only REAL problem with the Mac is that I keep wanting to right-click. Get you self a two buttoned mouse... Or hold control.
comment Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 there's beauty on the inside No, that's Intel inside.
comment Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 What's stopping you? Mighty Mouse's smooth top shell hides a powerful secret: touch-sensitive technology under the shell detects which part of the mouse you're clicking, so you can both left-click and right-click.
Genx Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 Lol, Intel, Intel's beautiful, I mean have you ever just sat there and appreciated it for what it's worth?
Genx Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 Bah! Lies, all Lies! AMD is just an imitation.
Ender Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Intel's beautiful, I mean have you ever just sat there and appreciated it for what it's worth? Except for that whole "blue man" thing they had goin' on. That was kind of creepy.
LaRetta Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Get yourself a two-button mouse It's a wireless one. I want to keep it! Oh. There are buttons there, Michael. I thought they were just for looks because pressing them didn't do anything - I didn't feel any action or click doing so. But just because they didn't click doesn't mean they don't do anything! They do now! Next, I want a Leopard. Oh. And I want a new Windows system with Vista. I want to keep Windows because I want that new 'dancing wallpaper' Genx mentioned. Now THAT'S a great selling feature!
