I have 2 fields that are times(start time and end time) I also have a total time field. The first 2 are set as "11:00 PM" and I want the total time field to show the total time without the "am/pm". How do I make it do that?

right click on the field and change the time formatting. You can have it as 24 hour notation.

I can't use military time format, because they use standard and it would confuse some using it.

And it still does not calculate right, if you start at 8 am and end at 4 pm the total time worked should show "8" but shows -14000

The Total Time field should be a calc with the result type Time. Then format that field using 24-hour notation. It will show the time in the format: 8:00:00 (or whatever bits you wish to include in the format).

Perhaps you should reveal the formula your calculation is using (my crystal ball is being repaired at the moment). See also here.
