lmead Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 We are upgrading our FMP 5.5v4 server from an eMac running OS X.3 to an iMac Intel running OS X.4. The sever will not stop when the "Stop Server" command on the Server Config panel is invoked. We have installed using root user and have tried being logged in as root and also as another user when trying to shut down, but with no luck.
Vaughan Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Have you followed the recommended practice of closing all the files before trying to stop the service?
lmead Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 Yes. We even went so far as to take the files out just to see if we could get the server to shut down but it just hangs.
Vaughan Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 You're running FMS 5.5 on an Intel box -- FMS 5.5 would be running under Rosetta emulation, which is probably causing the problem. I'd recommend keeping FMS 5.5 on a PPC machine, or upgrading to FMS 8.
lmead Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 That's the same answer I got from the Apple Systems engineer and the FMP sales rep so I will have to take the time to migrate the sysem. Thanks for your response.
