This is my first post i'm very new to FileMaker started this week!

I learnt a lot from a book. However, i'm now stuck!!!

I require a statement for invoices showing how many per month with totals.

I'm sure this can be done but how?

Hi BFGK and Welcome to the forums.

If I am understanding what you are looking for, you could use a subsummary report to achieve what you are looking for.

try doing a search for +summary report or +subsummary and you will find tonds of examples on here.

I've got the summary working and understand what i need to do.

However, my invoice date inserted is in the format 23 Jan 2007.

I've inserted a MONTH field in table but cannot seem to format as month name only i.e. Jan

Any ideas. Can i auto format the MONTH field from the invoice date field?

Use MonthName(Your Date field) Make sure the MonthName field is a Text Field.

But when i create a report to summarise by Month it doesn't work.

It is sorted alphabetically but it's definately in the format i require except date sorted.

Any ideas

I entered formula but its states the function cannot be found???

I am guessing you did not replace DateStamp with the name of YOUR date field?

I change to date field named DATE
