I posted this thread a few weeks back but it ended up getting redirected to a place noone would visit and then just as quickly ignored so I thought I would repost in an effort to help troubleshoot my problem.

"I've created a new db but it wont let me close the active window. It dosn't seem to be stuck in a script so I cant work out what it might be.

Can anyone help or let me know how to debug, I can't think of anything."

It sounds like a script is running (maybe paused). Does the Status bar show a Continue (and maybe Cancel) button?

I have also a file that won't close using a "Close window" script step, and never understood why. But it closes with the red button (mac) or red cross (windows).

Do you have to force quit ?

This could happen if you use a custom menu set

The close window command (as with almost all window commands) is governed by the script attached to the first occurance of the specific command in the menu set.

Thanks Stuart, but that's not it (in my case).

To be more specific, the window closes but re-opens right away.

Thanks Stu, you were right!

I changed the menu set on one of the layouts and now it closes. Just a note for anyone reading this, you can't close the active window in 'data mode'.

Now I can finally rest easy at night
