January 8, 200818 yr Technical Specifications of FileMaker Pro 8.5 and FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced: ... Number of scripts: Limited by disk space. Displayed in Scripts menu: 512 on Windows, 32,767 on Mac OS. ...
January 8, 200818 yr Author Yes, gentlemen. The db of this client has at least 500 scripts. I'm going to evaluate it, but by the moment, I've had problem trying to manage them. Why such difference between PC and Mac capacity, from 512 to more than 32,000?
January 8, 200818 yr It's not a difference in capacity but display. And I don't know. PS: You may want to consider upgrading to 9A just for the ability to group scripts in folders. Edited January 8, 200818 yr by Guest PS
January 8, 200818 yr "I was working on this one-table file with 256,000,000 fields and need to add a couple more. Is there a way around the limitation?"
January 8, 200818 yr :blush2: In no way was I commenting on your particular situation. I was just riffing on AF's comment about needing 32,000 scripts. Your solution certainly seems to fall within the "normal" distribution for the number of tables. Edited January 8, 200818 yr by Guest
January 9, 200818 yr Author The problem is that I can't work with four scripts I duplicated in order to edit them. When I try to open them I get an error that says: "This script cannot be found or has been deleted". I can't even delete them. Maybe I'm going to try it in a Mac, and then take it back to PC. I hope that the scripts work, althoug they are not displayed. What do you think?
January 9, 200818 yr It sounds like there is file corruption. Back everything up. Then save a compressed copy of each file.
January 9, 200818 yr 512 on Windows, 32,767 on Mac OS. ... good grief, that's quite a difference! Now before anyone thinks I'm putting down Windows with my observation, I use both platforms (currently Windows more than Mac). But it sure speaks highly of Mac, that's for sure! :wink2:
January 9, 200818 yr Author ... Number of scripts: Limited by disk space. Displayed in Scripts menu: 512 on Windows, 32,767 on Mac OS. ... I've been all around internet, manuals & tutorials trying to get those tech specs with no results. Any clue to find them? I think it's important to everyone to know FMP capacity concerning to layouts, scripts, tables, etc. Thanks in advance.
January 9, 200818 yr The file format hasn't change since 7 and it seems the specification document hasn't changed since 8. I could only find this: www.filemaker.com/downloads/pdf/revguide_fmp8.pdf
