Newbies big G Posted March 17, 2009 Newbies Posted March 17, 2009 Will FM5.5 process an FM6.0 file??? I wrote it in FM 8.5, learned my user has 5.5. I only have as low as 6.0. Should I rewrite it in 6?
Vaughan Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 FMP 5, 5.5 and 6 use the same file format, so these versions are all "compatible". However if a file uses features introduced in FMP 6.0 (like custom dialog boxes) they won't work in the previous versions. All other features will, however. To sumarise: yes you can create the file in FMP 6 but be careful not to use any features that are not compatible with FMP 5.5. You'll have to rewrite it because later versions of FMP cannot save databases down to earlier versions.
