I know its an old system ...

FM Server 5.5 on an eMac running 10.4.11 -- files are in a folder within the FileMaker Server Config folder; file folder on the same level as FM server config app.

Open database > shows only grayed out files -- What is wrong?

I deleted the duplicate post, no point in having two copies of the same question.

What do you mean "grayed out files"? Are the hosted files listed but not able to be selected?

I'd start by checking the files permissions. I'm not sure what they are meant to be for FMS 5.5, check the documentation. Wrong permissions causes a whole heap of problems.

Yes

I checked permissions and the default is FM 6 (which in my experience is OK) -- I switched them to FM Server config with no improvement.

Any other ideas?

hey Merkaba,

i run FMS 5.5 atm, if it is greyed out on FMS when i 'open database' from there it means it has [color:green]successfully opened!!!

If they are still black they have not opened - i may have reached the set file limit etc.

If they are not showing on 'open remote' from your clients, then perhaps you have not set them to be multiuser - or made them hidden etc??

i may be way off target, of course!

tom
