Clients cannot connect to FMS7 on SBS 2008

I have been running FMS7 on Windows SBS 2003 successfully for years. We are replacint the SBS 2003 server with a SBS 2008 server.

1. I copied the databases to the new server.

2. I installed FMS7 on the SBS 2008 server with the same license key.

3. I stopped the FMS services on the old server and started them on the new server.

The FMS server admin shows that the databases look fine and are in Normal status. However, the FM clients cannot see the databases on the new server through Open Remote. I entered the IP address for the new server, but it can't see any DBs. Even if I specify the name of a database, the clients can't open them.

Please help.

I'm no Windows expert but I have seen a number of posts regarding SBS 2008 - quite simply it's not a supported OS, at least for FMS10.

Given that FMS7 was released years before SBS 2008 then there would be no guarantee of compatibility with it, especially as even FMS10 is not supported.

The FULL server versions are however supported.

I finally figured it out.

The SBS 2008 firewall must allow access through ports 5003, 50003 and 50006 (internal network clients only).

Once those ports are open, clients can connect.
