Can we use FMU for a back end?

Can we use FMU as a back end and have our users put the HTML on a Linux webserver running Apache?

Not with the FMP Web Companion, the HTML (CDML) pages need to be on the same machine as FMP. You could, however, use another front end via ODBC on the other machine.

Like using ODBC queries from .PHP3 or .ASP?

Well this is not entirely true.

You can just put the few CDML tagged pages on the FMP Unlimited server and all of you other pages on the Apache machine. There are only like a dozen or so pages, many of which are simply error result pages, necessary.

You could also use XML results from the Web Companion and send those to pages anywhere.

Not on Linux/Apache, but through Web Connector you can do it on Mac OS X (you know, the UNIX Mac) and Apache. You can use RAIC with 3-4 machines supplying the data to the MacOsX Apache serving web on port 80.
