Partha Posted July 28, 2001 Posted July 28, 2001 Hi, I've had to suddenly switch to Lasso. Fortunately, most of the changes are easy (just ran a find & replace for FMPro to action.lasso, & removed all .fp5 tags) However, whenever I create a new record in some databases, I need to know who the user is. With CDML, I was just using FieldName=FMP-ClientUserName. Now I have to use Lasso security. How do I extract the Username, so that I can utilize it while creating records ? Also, are there any specific pitfalls I shud watch out for ? TIA, Partha
John May - Point In Space Posted July 29, 2001 Posted July 29, 2001 To extract client information, use the following Lasso tags: [client_username] [client_password] - John
scratchmalogicalwax Posted July 29, 2001 Posted July 29, 2001 Many of the shared tags between Lasso and WC are very similar. WC tends to add FMP in front of a lot of the tags........use your FM link program it's really useful and the tag desriptions are excellent!.......you'll also start to realise all the extra stuff you can do with Lasso, like the -Nothing action, FormParam, var, include, date and time stuff, math, etc etc etc etc [ July 29, 2001: Message edited by: scratchmalogicalwax ]
Partha Posted August 3, 2001 Author Posted August 3, 2001 Thanks. It's great having so many people willing to share the knowledge that they must have earned through a fair amout of blood, sweat and heart ache. At least the little exposure that I've recently got to Lasso has given me plenty of all three.
John May - Point In Space Posted August 4, 2001 Posted August 4, 2001 It'll be worth your time though! And just wait for v5 - yummy! - John
