Hi,

Still learning and trying solve.

I have a, maybe dumb, question :

I know that to get and use the name of a button is not possible, and I am wondering if there is any trick that would allow me, and others, to get the name or better said the text typed into the label field that appear when the cursor pass over the button.

My idea is to generate a relation based on that text and make popup a window including the related data.

Any trick, link will be very much appreciated.

Happy and prosperous 2014 for everyone

Select the label in Layout Mode, and either right click your mouse (or go to the menu under Format) and select Button Format. You will get a box in which you then choose either a script or a script step.

That I know, and what I want to do is to get what I wrote in the label field of Button format in order to use it in a calculation of a script to go to a specific record.

If you are trying to select the text, click it once to select the button.  Then hesitate and then click it again with the text tool on.  This will drop you into the text itself. :-)

Sorry, French speaking spanish 24/24, I feel loosing my English.

Ok, as I said , I know it is not possible to get the name of a button in a script to use it.

I was wondering if I could get instead any text from the "information button label", the text that shows up when you keep the cursor on the button itself.

I am looking for any trick to get that text and use it in a script (if it exist).

Let say I write in that information label "john", and I have a table with a record "john". So when I click the button it open windows with john record datas.

Now, I know how to do it, but I have to make one script for each button or trick the game using a portal (1 row and the button inside).

I am looking to have one script for all the buttons on a page..

:))) I feel I am not clear enough..! :)
