  1. Hello Daniel, MirrorSync requires port 80 for transmitting most data. If you solution is synchronizing container fields, it will also require port 5003 to be open, as it opens the hosted file as a guest of FileMaker Server. You will need to install and set up the web publishing engine to be able to navigate to localhost/MirrorSync, as the address requires the WPE to be running. You may need to restart the Web Publishing Engine after installation of MirrorSync. Can you access any other webpages the server hosts? Please also note the address requires the correct capitalization- localhost/mirrorsync will not work, where localhost/MirrorSync will. Could you tell me a bit more about what is installed on the server machine-- Apache, IIS, Sharepoint? Do you have SSL / security certs? It would be helpful to get a little more information on the environment to help troubleshoot the issue. I am also available to do a screen sharing session to help you resolve the issue. Thank you! Sarah Mulligan 360Works

  3. Hello Morninger, Yes, the sample file would be very helpful! If you could also send a screenshot of what your system preferences under "Language and Text" and the formats tab, I could change my computer to match yours. Then we could fix what's happening on our end as well. I'm looking through the bug report now, thank you. I hope we can figure out what's going wrong and get you up and syncing quickly, now that the problem is found. Thank you! Sarah Here's a sample screenshot of the information I need to replicate: http://screencast.com/t/XeL679Nry
  4. Hello Morninger, I referred your bug report to my supervisor, who took a look at the log file. It looks like when the script was pasted, it did not paste the version number of MirrorSync correctly. Please try to repaste the script again. Your script should look something like this: Please let me know if you have any questions, and if the script pastes correctly. Thank you! Sarah
  5. Hello Morninger, I've received the bug report and am combing through the log files. It seems to be a problem with the date / time stamp being in a format it can't handle, but I'm not sure. I'll have to do some testing, but I will get back to you as soon as I find anything. Thank you!
  6. Hello Morninger, Could you file a bug report? You can use the pop up that appears after the sync, or by navigating to the MirrorSync launch page and pressing "Report a bug." This will send me the log files so I can take a closer look at what's going on with the sync. Thank you! Sarah Mulligan

I was surprised at how fast it was on the laptop and the iPad - much much faster than we've experienced before. And the new data is in there." "I have a very happy client using MirrorSync. He has been using it all day and it has not skipped a beat. They have a ridiculously slow internet connection managed by the office building... Using a local FileMaker file is a HUGE improvement for their daily tasks." "I am a new user to FileMaker and FileMaker Server, less than 60 days with FMPro12 and less than a week with server. I leased a virtual server with the guys at Triple8, and I downloaded your plug-in and followed the directions and was syncing my first table within 30 minutes!! Thanks for a great product!" 8. Hello Eric, One thing to look for is to check John's FileMaker privileges and make sure he's able to access the XML web publishing engine. If this is enabled, then we can try to troubleshoot this further. The only stipulation about using external authentication with MirrorSync is that the username must match in all places, but not necessarily the password. Please let me know if you need any thing else! Sarah Mulligan
  9. Hello Alex, Are you able to open the hosted file from FileMaker Go? If the hosted file is unavailable, it may be an issue with the server's configuration. Can you copy and paste exactly the error you're experiencing? You can find this error in the MirrorSync layout, under the debugging tab. Thank you! Sarah
  10. Hello! Yes, MirrorSync is able to work with SSL connections in FileMaker server. After enabling your server with SSL, simply select the SSL option in MirrorSync on the same screen you selected a database. MirrorSync will then use the secure WPE, and show "transferring to https://" If using a self-signed or non-trusted authority certificate, there will be a couple extra steps to let MirrorSync trust your certification. The instructions on setting up a custom SSL certificate can be found in the documentation. I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you require anything else!
  11. Hello Oli, Thank you for your interest in MirrorSync! Conflicts are an interesting topic in synchronization, and there are few methods you can use with MirrorSync to resolve them. Prior to MirrorSync version 1.2, conflicts as you describe would use the last edited record timestamp and that record would "win," overwriting any changes on client or server. MirrorSync 1.2 introduced a new feature for conflict management, user controlled conflict resolution. With this feature, users are notified when a conflict occurs. The syncing device then is presented with the option to cancel syncing, use the automatic win rules, or manually pick which record should win. Please note that this is on a per record basis, not per field. In your example, you could choose to keep either the email or the phone number, but not both for that particular record. Field level conflict resolution is a possible feature for a future version of MirrorSync, and if it is important, please let us know by sending an email to plugins@360works.com. I've attached some screenshots to better show you the process in MirrorSync. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns you may have! Regards, Sarah Mulligan
  12. Alternatively, try going to this URL: localhost/fmi/xml/FMPXMLRESULT.xml?-db=Gebied_Rijpelberg&-lay=Sync_Gebied_Rijpelberg&-findany And replace localhost with the name of your server. Please let me know what shows up in the browser. Thank you! Sarah
  13. Thank you. Nico, it looks like the Dutch version of the web publishing engine produces slightly different date and time formatting outputs. If it all possible, could you perhaps set up a test account where I could access your XML publishing engine? This would help me sort out why I'm getting a different result than I expected. You can email me at sarah@360works.com Thank you! Sarah
  14. Hi Nico, No, that should have worked. Can you please send me your MirrorSync server log file? On Mac, this is located at /Library/FileMaker Server/Logs/360Plugin Logs. On Windows, it is located at C:Program FilesFileMakerFileMaker ServerLogs360Plugin Logs. Thank you, Sarah
  15. Hi Nico, Thank you for the screenshots! I think we've found the issue with the triangle error. Please download this file and try to install this new version of MirrorSync, it should solve the problem. https://rcpt.yousendit.com/1681178125/f356b5b716b7b6a927b42bd8a93cf4bd Thanks again, Sarah
  16. Hello Nico, We added support for the Dutch version of FIleMaker in 1.26. Please make sure you have downloaded the most recent version of MirrorSync. Could you open the MirrorSync script in the server version of the file and let me know what it looks like? Just a screenshot of the first few lines might help diagnose the problem. Thank you, Sarah
  17. Hi Jafacakes, Looking at the error code - 117 - it states that the data source is not available. Perhaps the reference or file has been moved or changed? Can you check on the hosted file that the external tables are in fact accessible and the DSN is configured correctly on the server? Thank you, Sarah
  18. Hello Jafacakes, That error message is happening when MirrorSync verifies your configuration is ready for MirrorSync. It seems that MirrorSync is unable to complete the validation of the file, but it should not affect the synchronization. At that point, MirrorSync is looking at the primary keys and modification timestamps to ensure that the primary keys are unique, being generated, and have no duplicates. It is also checking the modification time stamp to ensure that field is set correctly as well. MirrorSync may not have the appropriate access to your tables to complete this check in it's entirety. The extra steps include stripping the offline file's references to external data sources. As it is an ESS table, an exact offline copy of the file will always attempt to contact the SQL table. After you have walked through the configuration utility, MirrorSync instructs you to download a copy of the file. Do so, but refrain from running the sync script yet. Open this offline file, and make these modifications to this copy only (not the hosted file on the server!) First, delete the data source. This is vital to preventing duplicate records and other artifacts of using ESS. Open File > Manage > External Data Sources and delete the OBDC data source. Next, open the File > Manage > Database and navigate to the Tables tab. Copy any ESS tables. Then delete them. Make sure NOT to delete the table occurrences. After all the italicized tables are gone, paste the tables back in. This ensures they are local FileMaker files, not references to external data. Make sure the primary keys and modification timestamps are correct. The primary key needs to be an auto-entered serial number or generated UUID. Open the relationships tab in the File > Manage > Database and relink any missing tables. You can now distribute this file for synchronization to your users. Make a copy of this file and send it to each user who needs a copy. These copies are then ready for synchronization. I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me with any further questions!
  19. Hi David, We introduced new language support with 1.26. May I ask what language you are using for the operating system? Have you been able to copy the script steps in a previous version? Thank you, Sarah
  20. Hi Jafacakes2011, If you download the demo of Scribe, you'll find a How to use Scribe.fp7 FileMaker file. No scripting required - MirrorSync dynamically writes all the scripts for you Automatic conflict resolution Guided setup utility - requires no advanced FileMaker knowledge Fast, incremental sync operations - Syncs usually take just a few seconds. Users can delete, add, or modify records and simply run the sync script whenever they want to update their offline copy of the database with FileMaker server. It even works with related data, and does not require you to change anything about how you generate unique IDs. MirrorSync is available immediately for purchase from 360works.com/mirrorsync. 25. FileMaker 12 and SuperContainer: A comparison Of all of the new features in the recently released FileMaker 12, one of the most significant is the inclusion of enhanced container fields with managed storage. These enhanced container fields offer users a simple solution to store container assets outside of the database file in order to avoid increasing the size of the database file itself. Solving this issue was the driving force behind the development of 360Works' SuperContainer, a server application that leverages FileMaker's Web Viewer to manage digital assets from your FileMaker interface. In this article we'll compare the unique features of both FileMaker Enhanced Container Fields and SuperContainer so that you can make an informed decision for your solution. FileMaker and SuperContainer BOTH offer Small files sizes- Both FM 12 and SuperContainer allow you to manage assets without increasing the size of your FileMaker file. This ensures that your file is still fast, clean, and portable. Thumbnail generation- Both FileMaker 12 and SuperContainer can generate network-efficient thumbnails. This means that for image files, the container fields will generate a thumbnail of the image, while interactive files, like .mp3 or .mov, have the option of immediate streaming playback. This can help to optimize database speed as the images and files are progressively streamed to users from the server, rather than waiting for the entire file to download. Note that when using SSL encryption, only SuperContainer supports streaming - FileMaker Server does not. Also note that for thumbnail generation of PDF files, SuperContainer must be deployed on a Mac OS X sever. Interactive content- Both FileMaker 12 and SuperContainer can store static and interactive media, allowing you to read through the pages of a PDF document, playback audio or video files, or view thumbnails of image files - all from within the container field. Easily move, copy, or upload existing files- Both FileMaker 12 and SuperContainer allow users to easily manage their assets, giving the ability to move files to new directories, copy files to new locations, and easily upload existing container field contents. User interface control- FileMaker 12 and SuperContainer both give you control over the look and feel of your layout objects, including displaying titles, metadata, playback functions, upload, download, or delete functions, and thumbnail size. Drag and drop- FileMaker 12 and SuperContainer both allow users to drag and drop files into fields FileMaker 12 Unique Features Encrypted File Storage- FileMaker's enhanced containers offer enhanced security settings for assets stored externally using the Secure Storage option. This encrypts files (AES-128) to be readable only by FileMaker Pro and distributes the files across numerous subdirectories within your base directory. SuperContainer only offers encryption during transfer, not in a stored state. Upload from FileMaker Go- While both FileMaker 12 and SuperContainer work well for read-only mode in FileMaker Go, only FileMaker 12 container fields support uploading from the camera or photo library in FileMaker Go. Single user support- FileMaker 12 runs well in single user mode. SuperContainer requires the application to be installed and running on a server computer. SuperContainer Unique Features Store files anywhere- SuperContainer allows you to easily set a base directory where your files will be stored. This can be located anywhere on the computer where SuperContainer is running, or even on a network storage volume. FileMaker Server 12 always stores files inside the FileMaker Server data directory (FileMaker Pro, not running in Server, allows you to set any base directory). Deploy on any computer- SuperContainer can be deployed either on the same computer as FileMaker Server, or on a separate dedicated storage server. With FileMaker 12, all files must be stored on the same computer as FileMaker Server. Web File Uploads- SuperContainer allows users to easily upload files from their web browser, either by clicking an 'upload' button or by dragging and dropping files into their web browser. FileMaker 12 container fields are read-only on the web. Encryption during transmission- SuperContainer offers SSL encryption when transferring files. FileMaker can optionally SSL encrypt while transferring files, but that requires all database content to also be SSL encrypted, and causes streaming support to be disabled. Browser access- SuperContainer supports access to content from the web, independent of FileMaker web publishing. Since SuperContainer paths are just URLs, users can easily view assets in a web browser, and it is easy to use them in any web site. SuperContainer URLs can also be emailed and transferred separately from FileMaker record data. PHP or Java compatibility- Only SuperContainer offers PHP and Java APIs for easy integration with non-FileMaker systems. Compatible with legacy systems- SuperContainer is compatible with FileMaker 8.5 - 11. Meanwhile, enhanced containers are only available in FileMaker 12, and advanced features like streaming audio and video files requires FileMaker Server 12. SuperContainer is available for purchase at 360works.com/supercontainer. The Workgroup License ($195) includes a single server deployment for up to 10 users, while the Enterprise License ($695) allows a single server deployment and unlimited users plus support for FileMaker Server scheduled scripts and web publishing.
