  1. I am obviously not only a failure at FileMaker, as I should have thought of using a global field. I am now conflicted as to whether to sign up for training in FileMaker or have someone teach me to use a Google search properly. Thank you for the help.
  2. I could easily rewrite the script for each layout/table it would be used in (the script is only 3 lines). What I am trying to do is get better at writing reusable scripts. In this case, I don't see how I can do this.
  3. I have a button on a portal that calls a script "Show_Container": Line 1: Set Variable [ $Param ; Value: Get ( ScriptParameter ) ] (name of container field is passed thru script parameter) Line 2: Set Variable [ $Path ; Value: Get ( TemporaryPath ) & GetContainerAttribute ( $Param ; "Filename" ) ] Line 3: Export Field Contents [ Table::Field ; ""$Path"" ; Automatically open ] Wanting to reuse this script in multiple places, I need to be able to replace the "Table::Field" in line three with a variable, but can't see how to accomplish this. Any ideas? Thanks, John
  4. Anyone have a suggestion for a screen management utility for Mac? I use multiple monitors and would like to have Inspector and Field Picker on one monitor while working in a layout on my main monitor. I can do this manually, but each time I leave the layout, the Inspector and Field Picker reset to be on main monitor. I have tried several, but they don't seem to play well with FileMaker (or Adobe). Thanks, John
  5. Thanks for creating this Tim. This will make a big difference in what I can accomplish with FileMaker. While I was able to quickly get up and running with the demo database, I am still feeling my way thru porting this to an existing database. I do have a couple comments/questions: In the EasySync documentation, Host Setup, Step 6 - Add the "EasySync_Payload" layout, you might want to note that we need to assign the name "easysync_status" to the $$EasySync_status merge field. Otherwise the variable doesn't get updated. The name didn't copy over when I ported it from the sample database. Can you confirm that the "EasySync_Payload" layout is the same in both the hosted and mobile versions? Thank you again for all the work on this. John
  6. I am sure it's something simple, but I have been trying to install Mirrorsync 2.0 on a Mac Mini running Mavericks 10.9 and Filemaker Server 13, and after 7 hours, my head is spinning. I get a message "The installation failed." "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance". Note that I am accessing the Mac Mini via my laptop via Screen Sharing. I don't know if that would be the cause of the error or not. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a separate monitor this weekend to test this theory. I just installed the latest Java release, but it made no difference. On the 360Works website it says to go to the MirrorSync main page and click on "Report Bug" and it will automatically upload the install log. What I believe is the MirrorSync main page does not have that option. Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John
  7. I had trouble getting pic2shop to work with my app (very likely my ineptness, not the program). Anyway i went with CNS Barcode and it works fine.
