Fred -- Thank you for the hint on "Show vertical scroll bar" -- solved a problem I was working on for hours!!

We are currently running FM12 Server on a 2007 era Mac Pro. Based on the requirements FM13 seems to have and our expanded FM databases, I am looking to run FM13 Server on a brand new Mac Pro (yes, the new little black anodized jewel). Any thoughts as to what configuration we should get. Will the SSD cause issues with FM Server? Will we be able to put the data on a Thunderbolt external drive or leave it reside in the SSD? I assume we will be able to run back-up scripts that will save back-ups to an external drive as we are able to do now. Mr. Blackwell and Mr. Decorte in particular -- any thoughts?

Wow -- FMDataGuard looks powerful. Besides Steven, does anyone else have experience using it? If so, your thoughts about easy of install, how well it works, etc. would be a appreciated.

I have done essentially what Steven suggests having lock/unlock field with a timed script trigger running in the background. So if a change is needed to be made, you click lock/unlock field to unlock. Changes can now be made. There is a five minute time limit. After five minutes, the record is locked. In addition, there is another trigger that locks the record if you leave the record. I am loving script triggers!

This video is about useless! He moves so fast, never explains what he is doing or why. It all looks so simple but it isn't!

Went to their site and did not see anything related to back-ups on Macs. If you can direct me to right place it would be appreciated.

We have been here before and I still do not understand the reasoning behind not allowing backups to remote locations without pushing (as was able to be done prior to 7). While I respect Old Advance Man's knowledge and ability (I have learned much from other posts that have been made), I do not just accept things based on somebody just saying that is the way it is, end of story. In addition, the White Paper referred to only addresses Windows servers and not Macs. If I have to push the data for remote back-up, let me just back it up remotely without need to add push. I seem to be missing something here that the gurus seem to understand but I don't. Incredibly frustrating!

Why is this not supported? I have internal drives on our server to which i want to make back ups and you cannot even set a path to these internal drives. I did this with no problem in FM 6. This seems like a step backward. I have used FM for years because I didn't want to deal with the complications of SQL, etc. It now seems FM is heading down that path! Also, Steven what do you mean "Push that local copy of the backups out to external drives." Sounds like another complexity I and others do not need. Jim
