HI, I am trying to populate a global field with the values from a Value List. I can not find the function (or script step) that does this. Any suggestions?

That is what I did, I have three buttons that go to three different fields, the idea is to use only one script and specify the field name on the button parameter, the problem is on the go to field (or set field) script step where you do not have the possibility to add Get(ScriptParameter), because there is not a calculation condition to choose a field.

I am trying to create a script to go to a specific field depending on the script parameter assigned to a button. But the go to field (or set field) steps do not give me a calculation possibility to choose the parameter. Any suggestion?

I am trying to extract a mailing list from a list of contacts in a portal. I created a script that goes to the first row of the portal and then sends mail from the field email on the found set. It doesn't work correctly, do I have to loop a script going to each portal record to extract the email? Do I have to go to the related table, perform a find to find only the related records and extract the emails? or there is just a simpler way?

I would like to make an alternative question. Is this the regular procedure for a situation like this? lets forget for a moment the VL. What other approachs are common sense solutions to just entering the student IDs into a course list?

Hi guys, thank you for the tips, but what I am looking for is not to filter the portal, but the value list itself. From the practical point of view, a user will enter the student ID from the VL, but instead of looking a list with 500 names he would filter it, while the portal always displays those studend already regitered in the course.

No answer... Is this possible at all, or I am just totally lost?

I a many to many relationship with three tables, students, courses and registration. A portal in the courses table enters the registred students for every course with the help of a student ID Value list. I want to be able to filter the value list by the first letter of the last name, so I creat a calculation field that does this on the students table and a global key on the courses table. My pourpose is to base the VL on this relationship, but I am totaly stuck. I am adding an attachment of the file VL_filter.fp7.zip

This is just a wild shot, but it might work. If you don't select "use field name as column names in first row", the title row will be the first record, so how about creating a new invisible record that always sorts first, with the nice names for every field.

I need to use a value list in a portal, displaying the contact name, to enter the contact ID to establish a relationship between two tables. This VL might grow eventually to a fairly large number of records to be easily managed on a VL. What is the recommended procedure for this situation.

What concerns me is the fact that you can always have a contact with several roles, for example a student who is also a teacher, or a client who is also a supplier, so how do you deal in this kind of situation if they are in separate tables, duplicate the record?

Just a curiosity: Do you usually use the same table for several contact categories, like for example: clients and suppliers, or employees and supervisors, what about teachers and students, or coaches and players?

Hi, I have a very simple project-task management for my own projects, what I do is have a "complete" check box and a task delete button. Completed tasks will show up on the individual project task portal, but will not show on the general overdue tasks, table view layout. I have a script that deletes all completed tasks if needed, and a days overdue field, I also have a starting date and a due date of tasks and and a field that displays the word "active" when the present date is within this range.

Is there any resource that anyone knows that has a list of available FM solutions in Spanish? I have been looking around on the internet with not much success.

I want to place a global container field with the "delete" icon at the end of a portal row, it will be attached to a script to delete a row. The thing is that I don't want the image to appear on the last empty row of the portal. Therefore I would like to place a calculation container field that won't display the image if the row is empty (last row). The questions are: What would be the best calculation? do I have to make a calculation for each table, or a general calculation will work for all portals?
