Finder window opens when I click the edit layout button

Featured Replies

Hi

Pretty much all in the subject line. Lately, when ever I click the edit layout button, it opens a new finder window on top of FileMaker. (also happens when exiting layout mode)  I don't recall this happening in the past. Is there a way to stop that?  I am on a Mac Studio running 12.7.1 and FMP 19.6.3.302

Cheers

Craig

I have never heard of such problem and don't know what could cause it.

The first thing I would do in your place is determine whether it happens in a brand new file (or even better, in a file created on another system such as the attached). If the answer is yes, then the problem is with your system. Have you installed any system utility recently?

I fail to see a similarity.

Hi,

It does not happen with the file you attached, so that I wonder what would cause it with mine?

Well this is odd.  Since I have opened the blank file attached above by the user.... "comment"?  where the problem I described did not occur, it now non longer occurs in my database, so thanks for that!

....and it has started happening again... 🤨

Well, if it only happens with your file and not with my file then it's something in your file (you can confirm this further by testing with other files as well).

I have no clue what could be causing this (esp. if it's not consistent) and my prime suspect would be file corruption. See what happens if you perform a recovery (make a backup before you try this).
