December 13, 2025Dec 13 Newbies Every time we reboot one computer, an iMac M1 running Sequoia, we have to go into System Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network, and toggle off and back on access to the Local Network. If we don't, FileMaker client cannot see our FileMaker Server. All the other computers are fine, even those running Sequoia. I'm trying to write an AppleScript to so it for us, but it's annoying. Is there any way to get the setting to stick?
December 18, 2025Dec 18 This is a bug that went away at some point. It had definitely gone away during the Sequoia era, but I don't recall whether it was an OS minor update, or a FileMaker Client update that fixed it. Do you have the latest updates to OS and client installed?
December 18, 2025Dec 18 Author Newbies Thanks the reply. I have FileMaker Advanced 18.0.3.317 installed, and Sequoia v15.7.2. I will try installing the 15.7.3 update that just came out.
December 18, 2025Dec 18 That's a pretty old version of FileMaker (around 6 years) and not been supported by Claris for 3-4 years now. It's not officially supported on Sequoia. I suspect that a newer version of FileMaker may be the only real solution here.
December 18, 2025Dec 18 Author Newbies I understand that, but the boss is vehemently opposed to subscription fees. We would be looking at ≈$25,000 to upgrade FileMaker and our POS for our 15 computers. And we would loose all of our customizations. It's the inconsistency that is most annoying. We have an M1 MacBook Air running 15.7.2 and FMA 18.0.3.317 with no issues. The M1 iMac with the same software has a problem. Thanks for the help.
December 19, 2025Dec 19 Hello again. I understand that it's expensive, but as a Director of a business here in the UK myself, your management team can't just bury their head in the sand and hope the issue of staying up to date on software goes away. FM 18 is not secure or compliant (at least not here in the UK with the fairly basic 'Cyber Essentials' or more stringent 'ISO 27001' rules). You can't run software on devices that is no longer receiving security patches. You are vulnerable to criminals who could access your data illegally. It may be expensive, but so is losing all the company data! I know this isn't your problem per se, but the software is crucial to running the business, and the company's data is priceless! Lecture over 😉
