June 3, 200421 yr Hello Everyone... I need to ask you all how to do a equation. I have looked in the built in equations and can not find what I am looking for. I need: PV(Future Value, Interest Rate, Period) PV= Present Value Can anyone help me.. Joseph
June 3, 200421 yr Very true. I figured it must not be or he wouldn't have needed to ask the question. I should know better by now... Perhaps Joseph should try doing his own research before posting.
June 3, 200421 yr Author sorry...it says it does not rec PV? I am not sure what this equation is telling me...can you explane? Joseph
June 3, 200421 yr Author I have looked in the PV Funtion guys...but I need Future Value with it...Theres only give me 3 choices I need a 4th FV in the PV function... Joseph
June 3, 200421 yr Hi Joseph, Open FM Online help, and type in PV (present value) function in the Index HTH Lee
June 3, 200421 yr Author I have tried...FM7 does not know that formula...Is there any formula that has PV with a future value in it? Just for the record...Like I said in the main post...I have checked with the default equations and I can not find one with this setup... Joseph
June 3, 200421 yr Just plug your values into the forumla. FV/(1 + Interest Rate)^Period Set Field [field, FV/(1 + Interest Rate)^Period] Just substitute your field names for the appropriate ones.
June 3, 200421 yr Author what does the set field function have to do with this...I have only used them from global functions? Can you explain this to me ? Joseph
June 3, 200421 yr I think you should try reading the online help before asking a question like this. It could also be used as a calculation. I just presented the example as if you were setting a specific field with its results. I also think you need to read all the FM documentation and help you can find before you ask further questions. You need to have at least a basic understanding of the application before we can be of much help to you.
June 3, 200421 yr Author thank you for the help...I have read all of the FM documents...But Its alot easier to learn this when you have real examples...But I am sure I will get better at this... Thank you again for the help Joseph
June 3, 200421 yr Joseph, BTW, ^ is also already included as an operator (kidding) I'd have to agree FM's built in Financial functions aren't as easy to use than Excel's. Though, you can still use FM as a calculator by giving the Math equation, when FM doesn't provide an already built in function... But then please open your Math/Financial book as well... Don't give us the whip Joseph...
