Flash XML Connector object and how it can be used to communicate with FileMaker. If, set up correctly, the xml connector will parse out the xml for you. Attached is a sample of what I'm doing. I took a Macromedia tutorial and connected to a FileMaker 6 file instead of the xml file that they provided.

In this sample, the xml is update when the swf file is launched. So, if you add a record to the DB the swf movie will not update until you relaunch the movie.

NOTE: This is written for FileMaker 6 not 7. I will post a FileMaker 7 version later.

Could you add a few instructions? I couldn't get it to work. Perhaps you are assuming a port number of 80 in your SWF file? Where is XMLConnector_FM.fla supposed to go?

Also, the URL in your sig is messed up.

First, you need to make sure you are using FileMaker Pro 6. Also you need to configure FMP 6 webplugin.

The files can go just on your desktop.

1. open BikeTrip.fp5

2. open XMLConnector_FM.swf (if you do not have Flash Player 7 down load it from http://www.flash.com)

------------

If you want to see what is going on in the fla (Flash) file, you need open this file in Macromedia Flash Pro MX 2004.

Thanks. Note that you still haven't fixed your sig, it's bad HTML.

Hi Todd,

thank yo so much! What a relief to the community. I am curious on how you point the fields to the database and how the FMP7 version is coming along. I applaud your efforts and honor the connectivity.
