Yki Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 FM 7 key commands reads: "control-down arrow" for moving to next record. This is not working on my machine. Any ideas? Mac Book Pro, FMPro 7.
Fitch Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Is the status area hidden and locked maybe? Are you on the last record already? Just a couple of possibilities.
Vaughan Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Custom menus might also stop such keyboard shortcuts from working.
Yki Posted March 7, 2007 Author Posted March 7, 2007 Thanks, both of you, for trying. Obviously this is not a very common problem, judging by the lack of replyes. Fitch! What did you mean by the "status area"? I'm wondering if there is something in the MacOs that is using the key command? Don't know where to go look :)
Newbies amergin Posted March 7, 2007 Newbies Posted March 7, 2007 Generally, the control key is used on Windows and the command (apple) key is used on Macs - so try using [command] [arrow] and see if it works.
Lee Smith Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 The Status Area is what disappears and reappears when you click the button at the lower-left of your screen HTH Lee
Yki Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 I've tried every possible combination of keys, with no success. It puzzles me :)
Yki Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 The status area is not locked. And I found the "OS key commands" but there's nothing there occupying this particular command. Still trying and still praying for help! Is this command working for you all?? I went into scriptmaker and made a script for this particular function, but the problem is I can't go back a record. Only to the next record.
LaRetta Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 It is indeed the Control key on Mac which handles this. Have you tried creating a new file and seeing what happens? I assume you know this but I must ask (sometimes it's the small things which trip us up) - you ARE remembering to HOLD down the Control key as you hit the arrow, right?
RodSierra Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Are you running a different language that english, it should work in any language option, but that may be something to try, also is your caps lock off, again it should work either way. Just so you know, you can also scroll records by placing your mouse cursor over the left right arrow record navigate icon and use your scroll wheel to go forward or back.
Yki Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 Good going RodKP! Language selection is a the problem. I'm using a Finnish language kbrd setting. Tried the American and things worked fine. So now the question changes into: Is there anything I can do to make it work here in theese freezing Finnish temperatures?? Also, I didn't quite get what you meant by the arrows and scrolling. I'm using FM7. Where are the arrows you talked about? Would be great to be able to scroll with the mouse. Thanks to everyone so far!
Yki Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 And thanks Laretta. Yes to all your questions :)
